MADabolic Announces Two New Units in Lexington, KY

MADabolic, the industry’s first and only strength-driven interval training franchise, is pleased to announce that a new agreement has been signed to bring the concept to Lexington, Kentucky. Owned and operated by Jason Layne and Taylor Johnson, this agreement will ultimately land two units in the Lexington market.

Jason and Taylor mutually boast extensive athletic and gym ownership experience. Jason got started in MMA and boxing, ultimately leading him to sports performance-based strength and conditioning where he met his partner, Taylor, who studied exercise science at the University of Kentucky and has been coaching strength and conditioning since 2007. In 2012, the pair opened up what would soon become one of the highest-performing CrossFit facilities in the area.

After encountering MADabolic through Stuart Brauer’s WTF Gym Talk podcast, they started seeing the brand pop up more and took up a keen interest in its growth. Ultimately, the combination of MADabolic’s branding, its approachable strength-led program design, and its success with the high-performing consumer segment led Jason and Taylor to expand their portfolio and invest in the MADabolic opportunity.

When it comes to introducing the concept to Lexington, the duo sees endless opportunity for success. “Interval-based strength training is lacking in Lexington,” says Jason. “There seems to be a huge gap between barbell- and cardio-based group fitness. Removing the barbell and implementing MADabolic’s highly structured and scalable model offers Lexington a completely different approach to strength.”

Al Mendoza, Chief Development Officer, sees the partnership with Jason and Taylor as a no-brainer. “Their background in both business ownership and the fitness industry, in general, will prime their success within our model,” he says. “They’re exactly the right people to introduce the concept to Kentucky.”

MADabolic , rooted in strength, structure, and accountability, now has 106 studios operating or in development across the country. From a top-notch strength-biased training program to robust operating systems designed to help owners thrive to a team of experts behind the brand, MADabolic provides franchise owners with a blueprint for success in any market.
